Grisia - Rovinj’s historic open-air exhibition
Grisia is a long-standing one-day open-air exhibition in Rovinj. Traditionally, it was held on the second Sunday in August, when artists would bring their works out of their studios and display them along Grisia Street. The street itself, after which the exhibition is named, is a distinctive Rovinj staircase leading up to the Church of St. Euphemia. Our task was to create the visual identity of this iconic event.
Grisia Street is one of the most recognizable landmarks of Rovinj’s old town. With its distinct incline, irregularities, and rhythmic sequence of steps, it embodies a blend of tradition, everyday life, and architectural distinctiveness. These characteristics were translated into the visual language of the logo. The typographic rendering of the word “Grisia” is set diagonally, with a gentle upward progression of the letters, creating a sense of movement, ascent, and urban identity, capturing the energy of the street within the exhibition’s visual identity. The poster visual presents Rovinj’s recognizable silhouette through a modern, subtle approach. The gradient further enhances the impression while remaining understated. The identity is not tied to any specific artistic style, allowing space for the diverse aesthetics of the works exhibited at Grisia.
